In the 13th minute Heimo Heliskoski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Taavi Hulkkonen made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Taavi Hulkkonen was a little too slow when Daniel Zorita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 32nd minute. The score was now 3-1. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Taavi Hulkkonen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Taavi Hulkkonen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 41st minute. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 41st minute. Esa Joenväärä might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Esa Joenväärä ran back to his position shaking his head. Taavi Hulkkonen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 47th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Heikki Sulonen made a kick off. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Esa Joenväärä in the 57th minute of the match. AC Sarsaparilla's Taavi Hulkkonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 73rd minute of play. After having played for 76 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 84th minute of play forced AC Sarsaparilla's goalkeeper Taavi Hulkkonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Rafael Laatikainen fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AC Sarsaparilla's protests and gave Rafael Laatikainen a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, AC Sarsaparilla's Rafael Laatikainen got a free kick in the 87th minute. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Taavi Hulkkonen having to interfere.
