The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Vitå's defense didn't have a chance, in the 6th minute, when Mario Fernandino scored to the left of an out of position Kurt Bivall, making the score, 1-0. After having played for 9 minutes, Eduardo Fontirroig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bolivia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eduardo Fontirroig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julio Chicote fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Bivall having to interfere. Karl-Michael Vidman's late challenge caught a Bolivia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Karl-Michael Vidman helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Bolivia booed when Vitå was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karl-Michael Vidman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kurt Bivall didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eduardo Fontirroig went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. When Alfonso de la Cruz came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Bolivia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfonso de la Cruz couldn't finish the play. After 45 played minutes Bolivia got a freekick which was hit by Julio Chicote.

In the 54th minute of the game Olov Klint made a throw-in which Kenny Alberg played forward. 56 minutes into the game, Mario Fernandino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bolivia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vitå the free kick. After a rather tough play, Bolivia's Mario Fernandino got a free kick in the 56th minute. If Alfredo Ferrant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Chicote kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. When Benito Madrid fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bolivia's protests and gave Benito Madrid a yellow card for diving instead. In the 68th match minute, Bolivia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benito Madrid to maneuver through the defense. Alfonso de la Cruz kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Camilo Freixa was a little too slow when Kenny Alberg got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 3-3. Alejandro Villa kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Bolivia's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
