Ernesto Merexildo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute of the match. Ernesto Merexildo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Severiano Enekoitz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Thanks to some nice moves Severiano Enekoitz could shoot a difficult shot in the 43rd minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Severiano Enekoitz got free with Julio Vera in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guido Bartolome was the one to do the kick off. With 51 minutes on the clock, Paulo Lopes commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 51st minute, one of Lα Sυв 21:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Lα Sυв 21. In the 76th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernesto Merexildo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pablo Vegetti in the 84th minute of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Lα Sυв 21 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niceto Iigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 90th minute, Niceto Iigo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 93 minutes into the game, Pablo Vegetti cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
