Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paco Zamora having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 19th minute of play forced GALATASARAY O.Z.'s goalkeeper Paco Zamora to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paco Zamora took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Ecuador booed when GALATASARAY O.Z. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brice Riise didn't get a good kick on the ball.

After 55 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Andino. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from J.J J.J. in the 58th minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by J.J J.J. in the 59th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Paco Zamora in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 87th minute J.J J.J. shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 90 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gökçen Kulan in the 92nd minute of play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Paco Zamora came out and tried to block the shot, but Cristian Sancho slotted it home off the left post making it 3-3 in the 94th minute. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
