If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute, Agustín Saelices got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Baldomiro Txindoki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 37th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iulian Pietreanu to make the kick off. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Orçun Yalınalp kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. In the 68th match minute, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Petrică Cândreanu to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iulian Pietreanu in the 71st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iulian Pietreanu in the 78th minute of play. In the 83rdth minute of the game Iulian Pietreanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Primitivo Andino's late challenge caught a FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Primitivo Andino helped the player get up and apologised. In the 85th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. In the 92nd minute Orçun Yalınalp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The FC UNIREA Alba Iulia fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
