The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nibiru X's Darío Friederichs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Mastache in the 9th minute of play. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Colombia from getting a goal against them. In the 15th minute Abram Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darío Friederichs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th minute, León Collado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pedro Manzanares was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 22nd match minute, Nibiru X was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diego Armando Faine to maneuver through the defense. Darío Friederichs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abram Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Colombia's Orlando Tafalla got a free kick in the 41st minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Román Grebe to make the kick off.
