In the 2nd minute, Stephan Stout got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 6th minute Isidoro Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aílton Fernandez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 7 minutes, Geert Wilder mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AVV Zeeburgia and the Panama players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, AVV Zeeburgia's Geert Wilder got a free kick in the 8th minute. Tomas Berganza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. AVV Zeeburgia's Aílton Fernandez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 11th minute of play. Servet Akburç could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Marcos Cotilla made a huge save. After 13 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Alex Cambeiro. 22 minutes into the game, Natalio Rayman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AVV Zeeburgia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Panama the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xiao Chang Chao in the 26th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcos Cotilla made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Servet Akburç sent off a good shot on target. AVV Zeeburgia's Aílton Fernandez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 29th minute of play. Panama's Abraham Alguacil got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 35 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Felipe Ros. Stephan Stout was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 36th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice moves Servet Akburç could shoot a difficult shot in the 43rd minute, which Marcos Cotilla however easily saved by the left post. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Servet Akburç made a kick off. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Stephan Stout kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. Aílton Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. The supporters of Panama booed when AVV Zeeburgia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Servet Akburç didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aílton Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isidoro Sarmiento, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. 68 minutes into the match, Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Servet Akburç came free, but Marcos Cotilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Panama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. With a little luck, AVV Zeeburgia's Aílton Fernandez got control of the ball when Abraham Alguacil tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Panama's zone, Xiao Chang Chao stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcos Cotilla came out of the goal and Xiao Chang Chao tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Xiao Chang Chao put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Xiao Chang Chao in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcos Cotilla prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 93 minutes into the match, AVV Zeeburgia's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Aílton Fernandez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcos Cotilla made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. AVV Zeeburgia had won after a very even match.
