Venezuela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 35th minute, when 范青广 scored to the left of an out of position Jonathan Ferrant, making the score, 2-0. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 范青广, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Carlos Parodi was slow to take the kick.
