Paraguay's Xavier Zoido quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ricky Schattenberg, made in the 41st minute of the game. Erwin Teesing took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Pardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Erwin Teesing had in the 49thth minute some difficulties stopping Jaime Pardo's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball.

Paraguay's Jaime Pardo got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ricky Schattenberg took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jacobo Nores. Jacobo Nores dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Jaime Pardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
