When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaudencio Abad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of 深圳银湖俱乐部 booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Venegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaudencio Abad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

If 董兴飞 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 54 minutes into the game, Lei Chen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 54 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Lei Chen came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Lei Chen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Lei Chen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Allen Quigley fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored 深圳银湖俱乐部's protests and gave Allen Quigley a yellow card for diving instead. Allen Quigley hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. 孙杰鹰 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 83rd minute of play. Joshua Secada fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 孙杰鹰 having to interfere. If Lei Chen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
