Wilhelm Cane took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 18 minutes in the game Camilo Gaos did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Tomas Illescas. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Wilhelm Cane stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Wilhelm Cane tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Guillermo Mariano made in the 28th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Tomas Illescas however managed to control. 30 minutes into the game, Jerry Vallin threw the ball into play from the sideline. Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ronny Blom prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Tomas Illescas sped through Hermanö Oilers's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ronny Blom. Ronny Blom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. In the 45th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wilhelm Cane to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Joshua Secada hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 53 minutes into the game, Tomas Illescas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Ronny Blom was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 56 minutes into the game, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ronny Blom made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ronny Blom having to make a save. When Salvador Gisbert fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Salvador Gisbert a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert got a free kick in the 63rd minute. In the 65th minute, Tomas Illescas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Sune Åberg kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. After 70 played minutes Hermanö Oilers got a freekick which was hit by Anders Thedin. Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Ronny Blom didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronny Blom having to interfere. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilhelm Cane in the 78th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute, Patricio Costa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas suffered a concussion in the 81st minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Sven-Edvin Karlberg's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sven-Edvin Karlberg helped the player get up and apologised. Venezuela's Roberto Ocampo was substituted for Tomas Illescas. After 82 played minutes Hermanö Oilers got a freekick which was hit by Sven-Edvin Karlberg. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roberto Ocampo got free with Ronny Blom in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 91st minute, Venezuela's Patricio Costa ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ronny Blom. Ronny Blom yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 94th minute of play forced Hermanö Oilers's goalkeeper Ronny Blom to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Peter Bank had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
