Bengt Persson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. FC Schonebeck were awarded a corner in the 15th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Paul Some took the corner. Boris Spengler hit a great ball. FC Schonebeck's Lance Malliouris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 26th minute of play. Agustín Saelices's late challenge caught a FC Schonebeck's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Agustín Saelices helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. Luis Andino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lance Malliouris read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38thth minute of the game Bengt Persson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lance Malliouris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 39th minute of play. Lance Malliouris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 48th minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Lance Malliouris. FC Schonebeck's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. The FC Schonebeck players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-1.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bengt Persson in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. In the 67th minute Anselm Hayer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boris Spengler in the 69th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Boris Spengler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lance Malliouris made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Luis Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Daniel Zorita a yellow card for diving instead. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
