Cristo Nofre made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. 14 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Cristo Nofre, 2-0. In the 18th minute CFR Sibiu were awarded a corner. Hipólito Zambujal went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Evert Kjellberg managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 19 minutes into the game, Evert Kjellberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CFR Sibiu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chile the free kick. In the 19th minute, Evert Kjellberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, CFR Sibiu's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Cristo Nofre reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luca Dănilă in the 31st minute of the match. After 31 minutes, Luca Dănilă made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Chile's Thiago Pliego tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 35th match minute, CFR Sibiu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Costel Novăceanu to maneuver through the defense. 37 minutes into the game, CFR Sibiu's Luca Dănilă nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thiago Pliego made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Mariano Lacasa might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cristo Nofre. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mariano Lacasa ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 45th match minute, CFR Sibiu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bilbo Quijana to maneuver through the defense. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Luca Dănilă's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 53rdth minute, Thiago Pliego skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Cristo Nofre came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Chile's Mariano Lacasa. But to his dismay, Mariano Lacasa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. In the 60th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristo Nofre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 63rd minute of the match, Costel Novăceanu tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Thiago Pliego saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 69thth minute of the game Mariano Lacasa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CFR Sibiu's Cristo Nofre was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Evert Kjellberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cristo Nofre made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 77th minute of play. After 83 minutes, Bilbo Quijana mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CFR Sibiu and the Chile players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mariano Lacasa ran back to his position shaking his head. After 97 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Alan Tamayo. Chile's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
