Venezuela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 45th minute, when Bray McJon scored to the left of an out of position Jonathan Ferrant, making the score, 3-0. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Montevideo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bogdan Blănaru didn't get a good kick on the ball.

After 72 played minutes, Montevideo's Wilson Fernandez shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Montevideo reached it. A collision led to Montevideo getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Bogdan Blănaru hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luisito Antequera in the 82nd minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Passos in the 89th minute of play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bray McJon in the 90th minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Wilson Fernandez got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jonathan Ferrant quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. There was no doubt that Montevideo were the better team. Montevideo's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
