A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Enrico Tassotti to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rdth minute of the game Emanuele Bertoni who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Lucas Savenije in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lucas Savenije read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. If Emanuele Bertoni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 71stth minute of the game Emanuele Bertoni who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
