Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Luisito Antequera started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Agustín Saelices's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ronaldo Medeiros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. Ronaldo Medeiros made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Ronaldo Medeiros made a huge save. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bray McJon in the 22nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luisito Antequera in the 23rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute of the match, Cristian Sancho tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ronaldo Medeiros saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Ronaldo Medeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 39th minute of play. 41 minutes into the game, Montevideo's Luisito Antequera nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 44th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mário Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Luisito Antequera's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. 61 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montevideo the free kick. Ronaldo Medeiros didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Bray McJon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montevideo's supporters rose to their feet, but Bray McJon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luisito Antequera could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. When the match clock showed 72 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Felix Montenegro sped through Montevideo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ronaldo Medeiros. When Luisito Antequera came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Montevideo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luisito Antequera couldn't finish the play. 78 minutes into the match, Luisito Antequera had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luisito Antequera was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-3. 84 minutes into the match, Montevideo's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Ronaldo Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luisito Antequera's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 86thth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Christian Passos kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Olavo Matorin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Ronaldo Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 94th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
