When Edmundo Espiga, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 41 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Mauro Feo was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sebastian Villa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mauro Feo having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Harry Huijghens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Lautaro Navarro made a huge save. Albertino Bacelar's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mauro Feo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Honduras fully deserved thier win.
