The referee ignored The Green Fairies's protests and gave Vincent Mossberg a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to The Green Fairies getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Vincent Mossberg hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harald Fridlund having to interfere. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Ecuador booed when The Green Fairies was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonardo Lindholm didn't get a good kick on the ball. 52 minutes into the match, Folke Skoglund had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Folke Skoglund was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. 54 minutes into the match, The Green Fairies's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Harald Fridlund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Harald Fridlund narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 57 minutes The Green Fairies's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The The Green Fairies fans' excitement grew in the 59th match minute when The Green Fairies's Vincent Mossberg looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Harald Fridlund was out of position in the 62 minute of play, and Daniel Zorita capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Daniel Zorita really showed his touch with that goal: 3-3. Per-Erik Juhlin hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by The Green Fairies's Vincent Mossberg. But to his dismay, Vincent Mossberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-4. In the 79th minute, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Harald Fridlund. Harald Fridlund yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-5. 81 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Harald Fridlund, 4-6. Ecuador's Felix Montes suffered a concussion after 84 minutes and had to leave the field. Ecuador made a substitution. Max Alvarado replaced Felix Montes. After 86 played minutes The Green Fairies got a freekick which was hit by Vincent Mossberg. Harald Fridlund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 87th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Harald Fridlund in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Folke Skoglund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patrice Coker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
