Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Elbert Gudov kicked off to start the match. Luis Andino was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Luan Velloso came free with the goalkeeper in the 32nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Elbert Gudov in the 35th minute. 36 minutes into the match, MANCHESTER UNITED's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Helmut Kunze reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Helmut Kunze. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 68th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Helmut Kunze could save by the left post. 69 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Helmut Kunze narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Antonio Arias kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. MANCHESTER UNITED's Kristian Harrit got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 80 in the game by Daniel Zorita from a close distance when the talented Helmut Kunze managed to make a qualified save. MANCHESTER UNITED's players were relieved. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luan Velloso in the 83rd minute of play. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Helmut Kunze. Helmut Kunze dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great ball. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind MANCHESTER UNITED's goalkeeper Helmut Kunze, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 95 minutes had been played when some careless play by MANCHESTER UNITED's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Cristian Sancho heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The MANCHESTER UNITED fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
