Gordon Banks made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Cambeiro in the 6th minute of play. Bengt Bengtsson kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Gordon Banks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Berganza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 23 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Panama's Miguel Miralles fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. When Panama's Miguel Miralles in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hammarby Sjöstad IF's goalie prevented a goal. Gordon Banks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidoro Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Jimmie Lind fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hammarby Sjöstad IF's protests and gave Jimmie Lind a yellow card for diving instead. Gordon Banks came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Panama's Tomas Berganza. But to his dismay, Tomas Berganza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 43rd minute Abraham Alguacil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gordon Banks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 44 minutes had been played when some careless play by Hammarby Sjöstad IF's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Abraham Alguacil was slow to take the kick. During this time Panama's players had a chance to rest. When Kennet Kvist fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hammarby Sjöstad IF's protests and gave Kennet Kvist a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th minute, one of Hammarby Sjöstad IF:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Hammarby Sjöstad IF. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Isak Lidman to make the kick off. After 54 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Felipe Ros. After a defensive mix-up in Hammarby Sjöstad IF's zone, Alex Cambeiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gordon Banks came out of the goal and Alex Cambeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 60 played minutes Hammarby Sjöstad IF got a freekick which was hit by Ragnar Söderström. The crowd rose to their feet as Tomas Berganza kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gordon Banks. That made the score 0-3 in the 64 minute of play. Gordon Banks made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Isidoro Sarmiento sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Isidoro Sarmiento got free with Gordon Banks in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gordon Banks was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tomas Berganza showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 76 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isak Lidman in the 79th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Isak Lidman scored 2-4 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcos Cotilla, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 83rd minute of play forced Hammarby Sjöstad IF's goalkeeper Gordon Banks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Hammarby Sjöstad IF getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Sonny Forssberg hit a great ball. Alex Cambeiro's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gordon Banks firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 91st minute, Miguel Miralles fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Gordon Banks, passed just outside the right post. When the final whistle sounded Panama left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Hammarby Sjöstad IF.
