Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raul Leal in the 15th minute of play. 16 minutes into the game, SC Freiburg 09's Abílio Passos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Ivo Guterres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 21st minute of the match. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raul Leal in the 25th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Raul Leal showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 28 minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raul Leal, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vasco Brás, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Patricio Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivo Guterres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 46th minute, Raul Leal reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. The goal made the score 5-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Raul Leal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Raul Leal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. In the 83rd minute, Rigoberto Mina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
