Armando Meireles who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 10thth minute tested the skills of Jonathan Ferrant when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bruno Soveral's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. 15 minutes into the game, Patricio Costa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Exército Português the free kick. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Armando Meireles's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jonathan Ferrant firmly grabbed it by the left post. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when Exército Português's Armando Meireles fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 40th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bruno Soveral went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Armando Meireles tried to sneak it across the goal line.

Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Soveral in the 52nd minute of play. Bruno Soveral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 57th minute Bruno Soveral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruno Soveral in the 59th minute of play. When Exército Português's Bruno Soveral in the 65th minute got a chance for a shot 65th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The Exército Português fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. If Bruno Soveral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abel Carvalhais, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Armando Meireles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Armando Meireles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 90 played minutes, Exército Português's Gustavo Carrasqueira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Exército Português reached it. In the 92nd minute Manuel Flores shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
