Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Chile's Mariano Lacasa started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mariano Lacasa in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jannes Van Leempoel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Chile's Mariano Lacasa in the 4th minute got a chance for a shot 4th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Genk's goalie prevented a goal. In the 5th minute of the match Chile got a corner. Genk's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mariano Lacasa ran over to the corner to take the kick. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vergil Rupov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thiago Pliego made an important save on a dangerous shot by Suat Kaya in the 16th minute. In the 20th minute, Rain De Hond hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Genk's Jannes Van Leempoel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 22nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Suat Kaya got free with Thiago Pliego in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thiago Pliego stood somewhat misplaced when Suat Kaya came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 24 minute. In the 26th match minute, Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Garrido to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 27 minutes, Suat Kaya managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Genk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Suat Kaya was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Suat Kaya's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thiago Pliego read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Genk's zone, Mariano Lacasa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jannes Van Leempoel came out of the goal and Mariano Lacasa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Chile's Thiago Pliego proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Chile from getting a goal against them. Thiago Pliego came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Genk's Suat Kaya. But to his dismay, Suat Kaya quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Jannes Van Leempoel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 42nd minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Mariano Lacasa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Chile fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Suat Kaya was the one to do the kick off. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Jannes Van Leempoel made a huge save. Xavier Figueroa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jannes Van Leempoel having to interfere. Jannes Van Leempoel made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vergil Rupov, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Orlando Casaus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Jannes Van Leempoel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Suat Kaya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 65th minute, Mariano Lacasa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Chile fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. Mariano Lacasa took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jannes Van Leempoel. Jannes Van Leempoel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. Suat Kaya sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 71st minute Suat Kaya shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Pliego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mariano Lacasa got free with Jannes Van Leempoel in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jannes Van Leempoel having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Chile's zone, Suat Kaya stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thiago Pliego came out of the goal and Suat Kaya tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jannes Van Leempoel made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexander Klemensson in the 86th minute of play. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jannes Van Leempoel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Mariano Lacasa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jannes Van Leempoel having to interfere. When Francisco Carballar fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chile's protests and gave Francisco Carballar a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Chile's Francisco Carballar got a free kick in the 91st minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Chile eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
