The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dante Lacasa yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joel Gaona in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mikolaj Jerzyk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Mexico defense, Thomas Vollmar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dante Lacasa. The Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dante Lacasa should have stopped the shot. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomas Vollmar in the 20th minute of play. 20 minutes into the game, Thomas Vollmar recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dante Lacasa. Thomas Vollmar showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adam Pacholewski in the 27th minute. The supporters of Newcastle United booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lorenzo Cazalla didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mikolaj Jerzyk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 30th minute of the match. Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 35 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Adam Pacholewski came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olgierd Wojtowicz hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. 39 minutes into the game, Adam Pacholewski was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newcastle United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. Facundo Cadaval kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Thomas Vollmar to make the kick off. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thomas Vollmar in the 88th minute of play.
