With a left leg Silvestre Fidencio saved Club A Independiente from getting behind. Silvestre Fidencio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Silvestre Fidencio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luca Zorita in the 6th minute of play. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 12 minutes, Silvestre Fidencio successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Silvestre Fidencio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 14th minute of play. In the 18th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvestre Fidencio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luca Zorita hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. In the 21st minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. Silvestre Fidencio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Costel Zglobiu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Virgilio Arotza was the one to do the kick off. Silvestre Fidencio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Club A Independiente's Anacleto Roderigo got a free kick in the 99th minute. Despite being the better team, Mexico failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
