The supporters of Venezuela booed when Bandeca FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fabiano Cearense didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. In the 24th minute, Hunor Adam hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luiz Fabiano Cearense's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luiz Fabiano Cearense helped the player get up and apologised. After 35 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Guillermo Mariano. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. In the 53rd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Venegas to maneuver through the defense. An unexpected shot in the 57th minute by Patricio Costa got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 64 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Igor Mota came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guaberto Gamus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 81 played minutes Bandeca FC got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fabiano Cearense. Bandeca FC's Guaberto Gamus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Costa in the 82nd minute of play. Tomas Illescass short, quick shot in the 86thth minute got Guaberto Gamus to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 90th minute. Patricio Costa was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 94th minute. Venezuela's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. If Arlindo de Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bandeca FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Venezuela had controlled the match.
