Joaquin Prats hit a great ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After having played for 65 minutes, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Julian Murillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Billy Fristedt made in the 69th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. If Eliseo Mina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Pettersson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eliseo Mina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan Lindström having to interfere. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo.
