The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Sylwester Giecs short, quick shot in the 35thth minute got Benito Sanz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 38th minute, Eliseo Noboa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Benito Sanz managed to avoid a goal in the 40thth minute, when Glany proboszcza's Sylwester Giec fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The crowd rose to their feet as Burak Czerwiec kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benito Sanz. That made the score 3-1 in the 46 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
