Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kim Hänninen having to interfere. After 35 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Roch Dejo who took care of the corner kick. Fragleses:s Kim Hänninen showed great skill when he stopped Daniel Zorita:s penalty. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zlatko Ibrahimović was the one to do the kick off. Camilo Gisbert made in the 52nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Juan Sebastián Puig immediately put the ball in play. After a defensive mix-up in Fragleses's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kim Hänninen came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 62nd minute of the match Fragleses got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Roch Dejo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Roch Dejo made a great header on Fragleses's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Kim Hänninen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 65th minute of play. In the 69th match minute, Fragleses was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olaf Wojtowicz to maneuver through the defense. In the 71st minute, Olaf Wojtowicz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
