Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Heiner Studer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. After 26 minutes 1. FC Union Weberei's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind 1. FC Union Weberei's goalkeeper Heiner Studer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Heiner Studer came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Owain Wollenmann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Owain Wollenmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nico Gruenewald in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Luis Andino took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Heiner Studer. Heiner Studer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. 58 minutes into the match, 1. FC Union Weberei's goalkeeper Heiner Studer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 59th minute after 1. FC Union Weberei's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner led Ecuador's Felix Montes to fire away a dangerous shot which Heiner Studer despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
