After 20 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Abel Carballo. When YR Mechelen's Miguel Van Mechelen in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costa Rica's goalie prevented a goal. Joery Van Mechelen kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Stanny Van Wontergem showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Puig, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. Lautaro Puig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Stanny Van Wontergem tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 63rd minute Miguel Van Mechelen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Miguel Van Mechelen put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Van Mechelen in the 67th minute of play. Joery Van Mechelen hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. 77 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Van Mechelen came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 84 minutes into the game, Miguel Van Mechelen cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. Eliseo Noboa kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Van Mechelen in the 94th minute of play. Andries Mangelschot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
