The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. One of Colombia:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Boca Juniors:s goal. Pedro Manzanares had in the 7thth minute some difficulties stopping Torgny Landin's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Axel Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Boca Juniors's Jens-Åke Källberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Axel Montenegro in the 12th minute of play. Axel Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Jens-Åke Källberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Boca Juniors's zone, Axel Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jens-Åke Källberg came out of the goal and Axel Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Torgny Landin in the 25th minute of the match. In the 25th minute, Boca Juniors's Torgny Landin ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Pedro Manzanares. Pedro Manzanares yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. Pedro Manzanares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Oscar Lindholm in the 29th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Axel Montenegro in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jens-Åke Källberg saved Boca Juniors from getting behind. Colombia's Santino Seco managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Dimitris Panagiotakis in the 35 minute of the game. 37 minutes into the match, Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oscar Lindholm. Pedro Manzanares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Torgny Landin in the 42nd minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Luis Cazalla in the 46th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Boca Juniors's Lars Ekberg. After 47 minutes, Lars Ekberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Boca Juniors and the Colombia players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 47th minute, Lars Ekberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Axel Montenegro to strike the kick off in the second half. Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oscar Lindholm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Colombia's attentive Antonio Indiano managed to snatch the ball when Lars Ekberg made a throw-in in the 55th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Torgny Landin in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Manzanares saved Colombia from getting behind. Boca Juniors were awarded a corner in the 61th minute after Colombia's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dimitris Panagiotakis took the corner. Jens-Åke Källberg didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Axel Montenegro went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Santino Seco blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jens-Åke Källberg having to make a save. Colombia's Ignacio Mastache was substituted for Abram Sarmiento. Colombia's Abram Secada was substituted for Axel Montenegro. When Harry Hedling fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Boca Juniors's protests and gave Harry Hedling a yellow card for diving instead. 71 minutes into the game, one of Boca Juniors:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Jens-Åke Källberg, was totally fooled by Colombia's Kevin Mastache, who 72 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Torgny Landin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedro Manzanares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Colombia's Antonio Indiano managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Lars Ekberg in the 78 minute of the game. 81 minutes into the match, Oscar Lindholm had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pedro Manzanares. Colombia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oscar Lindholm was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. Boca Juniors's Jens-Åke Källberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santino Seco in the 83rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Boca Juniors's Lars Ekberg got a free kick in the 85th minute. Kevin Mastache struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Jens-Åke Källberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Colombia. Pedro Manzanares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Torgny Landin in the 94th minute of play. In the 95th match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lars Ekberg to maneuver through the defense. Colombia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
