The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Valdemar Kallio helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Savon Palloseura was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdemar Kallio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdemar Kallio in the 27th minute of play. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lasse Saarelainen was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. In the 35th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lasse Saarelainen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lasse Saarelainen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Ciriaco Ferrando sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lasse Saarelainen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. During the 88th minute of the match Valdemar Kallio completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Valdemar Kallio a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 89th minute, Valdemar Kallio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 90th match minute, Savon Palloseura was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Unto Allen to maneuver through the defense. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lasse Saarelainen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Lasse Saarelainen in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 96th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Savon Palloseura fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
