In the 6th match minute, Compostela FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Justino Loramendi to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Justino Loramendi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Compostela FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 15th minute after Compostela FSCMZ's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cesar Peyo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. 23 minutes into the game, Rodrigo Seco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Compostela FSCMZ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Rodrigo Seco kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Compostela FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Ortiz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 33 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Justino Loramendi came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaroslaw Niezgoda in the 45th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cesar Peyo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 52nd minute. 55 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cesar Peyo. Compostela FSCMZ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felix Montenegro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cesar Peyo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaroslaw Niezgoda in the 63rd minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Chicão Cerezo came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 71 played minutes Compostela FSCMZ got a freekick which was hit by Chicão Cerezo. Compostela FSCMZ made a substitution. Naldo Figueiredo replaced Robert Kornatowski. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Compostela FSCMZ made a substitution. Julio Vera was a little too slow when Boruc Poling got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 89th minute. The score was now 2-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Boruc Poling in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boruc Poling in the 94th minute of play. Compostela FSCMZ's Cesar Peyo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 96th minute of play. Ecuador walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
