The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got George Kristiansson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Daniel Zorita made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 29thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but George Kristiansson would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. After 31 played minutes Di Röe got a freekick which was hit by Jens Åkerman. George Kristiansson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. 36 minutes into the game, Di Röe's Sten Melberg nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 41 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Herman Benett who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Di Röe's corner Malte Hedström fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. In the 44th match minute, Di Röe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bengt-Rune Berg to maneuver through the defense. In a very dangerous position, a player in Di Röe fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 47th minute. Penalty! The Ecuador players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Di Röe were winning 1-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Di Röe's George Kristiansson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 57th minute of play. George Kristiansson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Antonio Arias lost his temper 64 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Di Röe:s goal. When the match had been going on for 66 minutes, Di Röe's Sten Melberg got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Julio Vera. Di Röe's Arnaldo da Fonseca was substituted for Sten Melberg. George Kristiansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 73rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 74th minute. Arnaldo da Fonseca could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. In the 82nd minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Kristiansson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 84 minutes into the match, Di Röe's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but George Kristiansson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
