The audience thought a goal was coming when Yuma Roekito got free with Julio Vera in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Lyon Olympique 69's Colas Chumacero got a free kick in the 11th minute. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cezar Nișu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of play forced Lyon Olympique 69's goalkeeper Manuel Espagnet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cezar Nișu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Manuel Espagnet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 31st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Espagnet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Cezar Nișu struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lyon Olympique 69. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lyon Olympique 69's Manuel Espagnet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 36th minute of play. After some careless play in the Lyon Olympique 69 defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Manuel Espagnet. The Lyon Olympique 69 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Manuel Espagnet should have stopped the shot. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cezar Nișu in the 47th minute of the match.

Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Lyon Olympique 69's Cezar Nișu. But to his dismay, Cezar Nișu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Cezar Nișu took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 58th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Espagnet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 61 minutes into the match, Lyon Olympique 69's goalkeeper Manuel Espagnet had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th minute, Felix Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Lyon Olympique 69 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolas Biard didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Lyon Olympique 69's Manuel Espagnet got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cezar Nișu in the 79th minute of the match. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 86thth minute got Manuel Espagnet to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 87th minute Cezar Nișu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cezar Nișu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cezar Nișu in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind.
