But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 19th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aritz Nafría saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aritz Nafría. Icaria's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Aritz Nafría showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Aritz Nafría made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 40th minute of play. In the 44th minute, Leobardo Nafría hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Herodes Barroso made the kick off in the second half. Herodes Barroso took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Aritz Nafría in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Icaria fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
