Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 14 minutes into the match, Compostela FSCMZ's goalkeeper Cesar Peyo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Cristian Sancho scored 1-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cesar Peyo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jaroslaw Niezgoda in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Justino Loramendi in the 33rd minute of play. In the 38th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Compostela FSCMZ's Cesar Peyo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Compostela FSCMZ from getting a goal against them. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaroslaw Niezgoda, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 44th minute Compostela FSCMZ were awarded a corner. Mauro Paulista went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Compostela FSCMZ's Mauro Paulista to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jaroslaw Niezgoda's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Dragoş Ţiţeica kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Jaroslaw Niezgoda came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cesar Peyo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Compostela FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauro Paulista didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 66th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cesar Peyo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Compostela FSCMZ's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cesar Peyo came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Compostela FSCMZ made a substitution. Boruc Poling replaced Chicão Cerezo. Compostela FSCMZ's Jefferson Sousa was substituted for Dragoş Ţiţeica. In the 85th minute Boruc Poling shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cesar Peyo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 88th minute of the match. In the 95th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Andino to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Compostela FSCMZ to leave the ground with a draw.
