Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Önder Cebi in the 7th minute of play. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Önder Cebi in the 7th minute of the match. Facundo Cadaval received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Sebastian Titz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Angelo Milanese tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mexico's defense didn't have a chance, in the 15th minute, when Angelo Milanese scored to the left of an out of position Dante Lacasa, making the score, 1-0. Sebastian Titz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 18th minute of play. Guy Rothe hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emanuel Ogășanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. The supporters of Mexico booed when Sydney FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Armando Abeita didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th minute of the match Joel Gaona sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sebastian Titz skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 36th minute of play forced Sydney FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Titz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 37th minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. Ferdinand Mendy thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Sebastian Titz, a very annoying self made goal in the 38th minute which led to 1-1. When Joel Gaona came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Gaona couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Önder Cebi in the 44th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 45 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Tafalla. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Önder Cebi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emanuel Ogășanu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 46thth minute, Dante Lacasa skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Sydney FC were awarded a corner in the 48th minute after Mexico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ferdinand Mendy took the corner. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Sebastian Titz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alberto Tafalla went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Mexico's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
