Teófilo Belém tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgílio Serpa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the match, Alberto Tafalla had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Teófilo Belém. MC ESPANHOL's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alberto Tafalla was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. MC ESPANHOL's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Lautaro Mancebo scored to the left of an out of position Teófilo Belém, making the score, 2-1. In the 25th minute Virgílio Serpa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severino Ribeiro in the 29th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felix Luque kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Lautaro Mancebo fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 36th minute MC ESPANHOL were awarded a corner. Aldo Giovannelli went to the cornerflag to take it. Mauro Nascimento was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. After 39 minutes, Severino Ribeiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MC ESPANHOL and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mexico's Xavier Seco was substituted for Alberto Tafalla. A collision led to MC ESPANHOL getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Severino Ribeiro hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Lautaro Mancebo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Teófilo Belém. That made the score 3-1 in the 41 minute of play. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kostas Sourpis, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. For all the effort they put into the match, the MC ESPANHOL players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Mexico.
