Milagros Fraga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Göktürk Semin having to interfere. Rolando Noboa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Antonio Romino's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Rafael Gallo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Göktürk Semin. That made the score 0-3 in the 98 minute of play. Peru's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
