Ruben Iglesias might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ruben Iglesias ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 8th minute Ruben Iglesias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Villegas Villagarcia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. YerBaTerOs's Villegas Villagarcia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 12th minute of play. In the 15th minute, Ruben Iglesias left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The YerBaTerOs fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 20 minutes into the match, Ruben Iglesias had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ruben Iglesias was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Ruben Iglesias got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 3-0 in the right cross in the 24th match minute before Julio Vera had time to react. Agustín Saelices fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Villegas Villagarcia having to interfere. Ecuador's Luis Andino suffered a concussion after 37 minutes and had to leave the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Loco Fondos during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ecuador's Diego Mancebo was substituted for Luis Andino. The supporters of Ecuador booed when YerBaTerOs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Loco Fondos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Villegas Villagarcia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Villegas Villagarcia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

After taking down the ball on YerBaTerOs's corner Ascencio Puente fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in YerBaTerOs's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Villegas Villagarcia came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Villegas Villagarcia threw himself towards the right post 80 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cristian Sancho, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. YerBaTerOs's Ascencio Puente got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 83 minutes into the match, YerBaTerOs's goalkeeper Villegas Villagarcia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zoil Soltero, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Andres Anguciana came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when YerBaTerOs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stanislav Peroutka didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Daniel Zorita in the 95th minute really tested Villegas Villagarcia's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 97th minute after YerBaTerOs's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The YerBaTerOs players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
