Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nichifor Codruț went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 13th minute Nichifor Codruț shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nichifor Codruț, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lautaro Puig could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Niculae Isvoreanu made a huge save. Braulio Castel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Braulio Castel in the 32nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nichifor Codruț in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 39 minutes into the game, F.C.BARLAD's Nichifor Codruț nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. F.C.BARLAD's Eric Pârlea managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Efrain Moruga in the 42 minute of the game. If Nichifor Codruț had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nichifor Codruț, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Nichifor Codruț came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eliseo Noboa to strike the kick off in the second half. Sandu Brădescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Niculae Isvoreanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Puig in the 59th minute of play. Costa Rica's defense didn't have a chance, in the 62nd minute, when Valentin Verzea scored to the left of an out of position Benito Sanz, making the score, 0-6. In the 70th minute, Nichifor Codruț ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-7. Braulio Castel's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 75thth minute, Benito Sanz skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Abel Carballo hit a great ball. Nichifor Codruț sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 81 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Nichifor Codruț came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 82 minutes, Benito Sanz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The throw-in from Efrain Moruga in the 86th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by F.C.BARLAD's Ernest Zburlea. 91 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Braulio Castel. In the 92nd minute of the match, Nichifor Codruț tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Benito Sanz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When the final whistle sounded F.C.BARLAD left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Costa Rica.
