After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Douglas Vides stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Douglas Vides tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 37 minutes into the match, Fielzão's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Carlos Eduardo Aparecido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Luisão Leal fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fielzão's protests and gave Luisão Leal a yellow card for diving instead. In the 52nd minute, Luisão Leal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 54 minutes into the game, Lautaro Mancebo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Carlos Eduardo Aparecido was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Augusto Vasconcelos in the 58th minute of the match. Fielzão's Carlos Eduardo Aparecido proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Fielzão from getting a goal against them. Alberto Tafalla scored 0-2 in the 63rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlos Eduardo Aparecido, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Fielzão's Ciro de Alcântara was substituted for Afonsinho Zonta. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Joel Gaona got a free kick in the 67th minute. In the game's 78th minute Fielzão's Arvid Treiner took a hard shot from long distance, a kick which went into the net just to the right of Dante Lacasa and thus the score was 1-2. From a short distance, Mexico's Luca Zorita, in the 84th minute, tried to place the ball behind Carlos Eduardo Aparecido, but the ball hit the right post on the wrong side and went out. Fielzão's Carlos Eduardo Aparecido proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Fielzão from getting a goal against them. Dante Lacasa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Mexico players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
