Ecuador's players were relieved. 11 minutes into the match, Cougars FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Fernando Abarca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luis Andino scored 0-2 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernando Abarca, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Cougars FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bonifacio Valerio didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Cougars FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Pascual Ubendu hit a great ball. Cristian Sancho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 51stth minute, Fernando Abarca skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 52nd minute Lorenzo Aimar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severo Sasoin in the 58th minute of play. After 60 minutes, Fernando Belarmo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cougars FC and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Cougars FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Belarmo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 65 played minutes Cougars FC got a freekick which was hit by Gualterio Pio. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fernando Abarca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 78th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabio Artal in the 89th minute of play. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cougars FC's goalkeeper Fernando Abarca, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 95 played minutes Cougars FC got a freekick which was hit by Fernando Belarmo. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Cougars FC.
