Delmar Bartoleme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clemente Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Lorenzo Louis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Teodosio Cerda made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Plácido Donoso got a free kick in the 16th minute. In the 17th minute, Luisito Caradaro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Teodosio Cerda made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luisito Caradaro in the 26th minute. After a rather tough play, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Francisco Arens got a free kick in the 30th minute. The audience was convinced that Clemencín Varas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Delmar Bartoleme was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. In the 34th match minute, Club Deportes Santa Cruz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teodosio Pimentel to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Eleuterio Ferdinand in the 34th minute really tested Teodosio Cerda's skills. Paulo Gonzalez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Teodosio Cerda having to make a save. If Teobaldo Hegoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Teodosio Cerda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teobaldo Hegoi in the 79th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Raimundo Backhouse ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Delmar Bartoleme. Delmar Bartoleme yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Luisito Caradaro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Club Deportes Santa Cruz booed when VERΛ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luisito Caradaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Clemente Barros's late challenge caught a VERΛ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Clemente Barros helped the player get up and apologised. Clemente Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. The Club Deportes Santa Cruz supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Club Deportes Santa Cruz would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
