Gualterio Lopez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Niceto Illan was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gilberto Illart was the one to do the kick off. Niceto Illan was out of position in the 52 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Niceto Illan made a huge save. After having played for 59 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Niceto Illan made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Hermengildo Orkatz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Temperley's Ildefonso Richie in the 68th minute got a chance for a shot 68th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The Temperley fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Niceto Illan should have stopped the shot. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ildefonso Richie in the 83rd minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Temperley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mai Zhi didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Temperley getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Iker Llorienzo hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita shot from long distance in the 88th minute, but Niceto Illan was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. 90 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Kaapo Mastropiero came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 90thth minute of the game Kaapo Mastropiero who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Temperley fans' excitement grew in the 95th match minute when Temperley's Kaapo Mastropiero looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
