But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. 26 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristiano Messi. 28 minutes into the match, Corinthians's Cristiano Messi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 31 minutes into the game, Corinthians's Cristiano Messi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. The throw-in from Guillermo Mariano in the 34th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Corinthians's Leopoldo Palmeira. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when Corinthians's Cristiano Messi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Messi in the 38th minute of the match. Cristiano Messi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. Venezuela's Patricio Costa pulled a muscle in his leg after 51 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 51 minutes into the game, Jiang Yi Chong was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corinthians's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. Venezuela's Roberto Ocampo was substituted for Patricio Costa. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 55 minutes into the game, Kiril Biradzhiev was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corinthians's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. After 55 played minutes Corinthians got a freekick which was hit by Kiril Biradzhiev. Şensoy Sualp's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Şensoy Sualp helped the player get up and apologised. Thanks to some nice moves Tomas Illescas could shoot a difficult shot in the 59th minute, which Jaime Almeida however easily saved by the left post. Cristiano Messi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Cristiano Messi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Cristiano Messi took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristiano Messi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 76th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. 77 minutes into the match, Cristiano Messi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristiano Messi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Corinthians made a substitution. Rubinho de Lara replaced Ignacy Kinic. Corinthians made a substitution. José Vítor Ramos replaced Cristiano Messi. 86 minutes into the game, José Vítor Ramos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. José Vítor Ramos scored 7-0 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 93 minutes into the match, José Vítor Ramos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that José Vítor Ramos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Corinthians had played much better football throughout.
