The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Agustín Saelices in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henrick Zeier saved Tarada from getting behind. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Henrick Zeier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Sebastián Puig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Henrick Zeier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 26th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. In the 34th match minute, Tarada was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serge Jeanneret to maneuver through the defense. Adam Wielowiejski hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Henrick Zeier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Tarada's Adam Wielowiejski fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Tarada made a substitution. Massimo Wechsler replaced Leif Kohler. After 49 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Adam Wielowiejski who took care of the corner kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Adam Wielowiejski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Adam Wielowiejski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tarada's Henrick Zeier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Tarada from getting a goal against them. Henrick Zeier made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Henrick Zeier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adam Wielowiejski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adam Wielowiejski in the 87th minute of play. The supporters of Tarada booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 93 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Adam Wielowiejski came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 95 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stian Aarflot in the 96th minute of play.
