Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Célio Mangueira started the match with the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Camilo Gaos during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 4 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gaos. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Wellington Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 15 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Célio Mangueira. In the 16th minute, Geovanni Leite hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wellington Montenegro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joshua Secada in the 17th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gonçalo Catarinense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Célio Mangueira in the 20thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 27th minute, Arnaldo Tasso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benê de Azevedo made in the 35th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Flavinho Fantini immediately put the ball in play. Gonçalo Catarinense was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 40th minute. Joinville Esporte Clube's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wellington Montenegro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. Camilo Gaos kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 61st minute of the match Arnaldo Tasso shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of Venezuela:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Joinville Esporte Clube:s goal. Venezuela:s Jonathan Ferrant showed great skill when he stopped Célio Mangueira:s penalty. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wellington Montenegro having to make a save. A sloppy throw-in by Flavinho Fantini in the 69th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert. In the 74th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wellington Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Joinville Esporte Clube booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gaos didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 77th minute of the match Fausto Aguiar shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Deivid Vaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. In the 81st minute, Fausto Aguiar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Joshua Secada had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Venezuela's Jose Correa managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Flavinho Fantini in the 86 minute of the game. After 91 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Illescas. Venezuela's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Joinville Esporte Clube had won, even though Venezuela had held more of the ball.
